Another interesting topic aside from nature are the animals. Animals is a great topic not only for haiku poems but in all aspects. From smallest to biggest or from tamed to wild, we can express our thoughts about them using haiku poems. We can even use our lovely pets as the topic to enhance our skill in making haiku poems.
A lot of modern haiku use ordinary pets like dogs, cats and birds as the center of the poem. Of course it also goes the same with wild animals living in the forest. In fact Matsuo Basho used frogs in most of his famous haiku poets. Below is an example.
